interior of the dwelling, to give new qualities, by investing with precision and care the existing qualities, that should be preserved, and what is missing that must be added. The aim is to respond to the family’s needs in a house; the ground floor is a social area where new access halls are done, open, and as the clients wish was to demolish the garage space, gardens and the terraces are added around the building to enjoy more space and more use. The upper floors are arranged as private spaces and the bathrooms are relocated around the staircase for an easy access. The existing windows are replaced by large glassed windows and sliding doors, giving more natural light and more views. The top floor is renewed with a new height in order to add two more sleeping rooms. Berlin is a metropolis where there is a huge demand for new homes. Densification should not only provide attractive homes to live in but also contribute to the improvement of the area as a whole while improving green spaces and creating vibrant environments. The project is a process of rethinking living in Berlin and imagining architecture as a way to connect people, nature, buildings, and living. The concept references the past and proposes the luxurious living qualities of the mid-century ‘urban villa’ typology, such as lightness, transparency, and openness, dealing with the questions of density at the same time, taking also the topic of nature to participate at this density, proximity, and activity, on one hand, quietness, solitude, and easiness on another hand. The site - located on Arcostr, in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district, is one of the areas facing the Spree still not built upon. The landscape is covered with oak, linden, and poplar trees, flowers, and various plants with views of the river. With the respect to the existing vegetation, housing is proposed in amongst the trees; that would be floating above the ground. The idea of the void on the ground level serves a close relationship to nature, to articulate and highlight the built mass, and it also leads to the free flow of people, and air while playing with light and shadow. This public ground floor is also a community space to have exchanges and communication where a meeting hall, garden houses, and workshop spaces are organized. The housing is elevated on columns; the flats are placed in a simple, economical, and efficient (7mx7m) structural grid, able to host a vast range of living scenarios responding to changing lifestyles. Every unit has a winter garden and two terraces both on north and south - offering extra space, light, and use, as well as the possibility of living outside, of having a garden, like in a single house. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, our homes have been serving simultaneously as workplaces, gyms, restaurants, and storage lockers. As a result, the lines between work-life and home-life has become blurry. The project aims to investigate the relationship between domestic and work dimensions. The reference apartment, given in the competition, is a 65 m2 studio apartment and reconceived for a couple who would like to continue working from home at the end of the pandemic. The main focus of the project is to create an enjoyable and flexible living space that is adapting to changing lifestyles and needs of a young couple. The apartment challenges the necessity of the walls and replacing them with very thin elements; shelving units, fabrics, and polycarbonate panels. Each element plays a clear role: The shelving units are a storage system and allows light to flow from one side to the other, not only helps to retain a sense of openness but also to define the rooms. Depending on how the shelves are arranged, units offer more or less privacy. The polycarbonate panel has sliding doors and is soundproof, it is separating the bedroom and the workspace from the living room. Thus, it creates a silent corner to better enable working from home. Further, it makes a visual connection between the rooms but emphasizing privacy due to its material. The curtains are to cover up the shelving units or to block the light when intimacy needed. The importance of being surrounded by objects, furnishings, and materials that have personal meanings brings its own boost to well-being. Home changes due to the feelings and needs, it becomes the projection of the mind. The project aims to develop a spatial structure that can be either residential or a library or a school. What is the difference between these functions? In this offshore laboratory, we researched and learned together about visions in urban practice and created an experiment to reimagine new ways of living together in urban space. The university kitchen was the main common space of hospitality, production, careful housekeeping, and collective knowledge production. We built and reshaped the kitchen with testing and improving it. The access deck, which faces onto the courtyard, is a circulation and balcony structure that can potentially be appropriated by the community of residents. The balcony provides a more intimate connection with the void of the courtyard, which has given it a different character in the court. Each apartment faces two orientations – a street and a courtyard, allowing tenants to relate to the street life as well as to the quiet block interior. In its internal inhabitation, its spaces can be grouped and redistributed horizontally - it can be arrayed, linked together or easily subdivided. The uses proposed for the ground floor such as a café and flexibly sized studios along Elbestrasse activate the urban space. Studio&nbsp;Christoph Nytsch-Geusen, Werner Kaul The aim is to design a cost-efficient tiny house that is suitable for a senior citizen. Its main design principle is, therefore, its accessibility and freedom of barriers. Accordingly, the Tiny House consists of a single storey with a simple floor plan. The central element of the house is a prefabricated full-height shelf unit that functions as a structural as well as a space-defining element. It contains all necessary functions such as extendable furniture, sanitary facilities contained within a bathroom, ample storage room, and kitchen equipment as well as most technical installations. This self-supporting structure allows for an open floor plan which maximizes functional space while allowing enough free scope to accommodate the radius of movement needed for a wheelchair. The second spatial element consists of foldable facade elements on the three sides that are not occupied by the shelf. The lower halves of these elements can be used as an extension of the interior space in the form of generous terraces, while the upper parts generate shades when unfolded. The aim was to work, not just within an offset perimeter of the block, but across the whole parcel as such, in an effort to create more mass from a larger diversity of housing types. The building plot is on the west side of Lützowplatz in Tiergarten, Mitte and surrounded by cultural, political institutions and the Bauhaus Archive. A concrete ‘tree’ contains the exhibition spaces, including conference halls while the open spaces function as the library. The form defines the relations between the visitor and the place: ‘in’ means that you are into the exhibition spaces, ‘on’ means you are at the library, in/on. The glass facade is interesting for its transparency,&nbsp;as it is illuminated by the sunlight, becoming a dynamic part of the building as it reacts differently according to the light, time of day, weather, and the surrounding context. As the concrete ‘tree’ branches differently on every floor, visitors experience different perspectives.
